Special attention is paid to the relations between the considered aspects and challenges with other areas of scientific knowledge, in particular sociolinguistics, which once again allows to speak about the role and importance of intercultural communication not only as a process ofinteraction between cultures, but as an interdisciplinary system of scientific knowledge. Main methodological approaches are socio-linguistic and socio-economic analysis as well as abstraction, allowing to consider problems of interdisciplinary knowledge mainly through a prism of the social and economic relations. The main conclusions of authors are reduced to the fact that the most fundamental socio-economic aspects of intercultural communication should be considered the distribution of international languages, as well as academic and professional mobility in the conditions of economy of knowledge as a phenomenon emerged in the globalization era and marked the transition from industrial society to post-industrial. LEXICOGRAFIC DESCRIPTION OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN  EDUCATIONAL PHRASEOLOGICAL DICTIONARIES FOR PUPILS OF  ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

N. V. Basko

Abstract. The article addresses the problem of lexicographic description of phraseological units in educational phraseological dictionaries for junior schoolchildren. Phraseology is regarded as one of the most difficult branches of linguistics, as it reflects all the changes which took place at different stages of cultural evolution. The educational nature of a dictionary reveals itself in the principles of selection of units and in the description of all components of the dictionary entries – such as the header unit, the lexical and grammatical compatibility, the explanation of an idiom (vocabulary definition), illustrative examples, and cultural or etymological references. An important lingo-didactic principle to be observed during the compilation of any educational dictionary for pupils of elementary school is to account the age specifics of junior schoolchildren. According to this principle, the language material in a dictionary must be presented in a minimized and adapted form, suitable for children’s perception. It assumes introduction of entertaining and amusing exercises in a play-like form and presence of funny and humorous pictures providing visual support for the training material.

Keywords: phraseological units, educational dictionary, lexicographic description, dictionary entry, elementary school, cultural development.

ANALYSIS AND SEARCH FOR MECHANISMS OF LEARNING OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT UNDER STUDENT-CENTERED APPROACH

I. M. Elkina

Abstract. The paper analyzes various criteria for evaluating quality of education, including criteria for learning outcomes assessment. The author considers assessment mechanisms, which include selfesteem and peer-assessment of the learners, developed for student-centered approach to learning. The article shows that in the existing teaching practice the self-esteem methods has been borrowed from psychology and yet barely fits into the system of evaluation. However, if the process of education under student-centered approach is changed considering the post-industrial society views about education, the assessment turns into one of the main elements of educational process, as it is based upon selfesteem, peer-assessment and external expert opinion. Intrinsic motivation and learner’s interest become the basis of learning; this happens during rhizomatic learning. In this case the efforts to establish relations and their outcomes have an impact on the abundant educational content and can serve as assessment criteria.

Keywords: assessment, assessment criteria, student-centered approach, post-industrial society, selfesteem, peer-assessment, rhizomatic learning.
